In Russia’s Orbit – conversation with VII’s photographers

Davide Monteleone together with his colleagues from agency VII Tomas van Houtryve and Donald Weber will participate at the conversation about their recent books documenting life in Russia’s orbit. The event  will be held at the FNAC gallery (FNAC Bercy Village, Cour Saint-Emillion, 75012 Paris) on Thursday, November 15, 6:30pm – 8:00pm during the Mois de la Photo a Paris.

Davide Monteleone will teach a week-long documentary photography workshop in Moscow, January 03-10, 2013. Just a few places still available.

“And the winner is..” Moscow Photo Workshop 2013 scholarship winner

We are happy to announce the scholarship winner of 2013 edition is Ana Catarina Pinho from Portugal with a project about city suburbs landscape Broken Ground. Talking about her work Pinho says:

My idea of borderline is directly connected to people and how their conceptions and behavior about territory and possession originates separation, misunderstanding and conflict. So I used portraits of the suburbia inhabitants to represent the psychological border that divides space and people.

Pinho’s work has been selected for the accurate study of the subject, good theme development and visual coherence.

October 2, 2012 opens the “History of Russia in photographs” exhibition at Museum Moscow House of Photography.

The Rodchenko Moscow Art School, part of the Museum,  will host our Moscow Photo Workshop with Davide Monteleone from 3 to 10 January 2013.

Scholarship for young photographers – Moscow Photography Workshop 2013 with Davide Monteleone (VII)

Only 20 days left to apply to the scholarship available to cover 50% of the workshop fee for young photographers under 28 years old.

In order to apply for the scolarship please send us a fotocopy of your Identity Card (passport) and a portfolio consisting max of 15 photos. A portfolio can be a selection of your work or a single project. Each photo must be in Jpeg format. The file no bigger then 1M.

Scolarship application deadline is October 15 2012.

Rodchenko Moscow Art School – new partnership

We are happy to announce our new partnership with the Rodchenko Moscow Art School that will host our workshop during the week in January and will give us an opportunity to meet the students and professors of the school and to exchange our experience and ideas about photography. The School wearing the name of a famous russian photographer Alexander Rodchenko is part of Moscow Multimedia Art Museum and offers the unique educational program formed on the base of international experience (ICP New York, École National d’Arles, Rijksakademie Amsterdam, Academy of fine arts Vienna. During the workshop we will arrange a meeting with the Russian photoeditors and curators to exchange ideas, discuss the work and, why not, make plans for future projects.

“I seek answers to my questions by means of taking photo” – interview with Davide Monteleone

Watch the video interview with Davide Monteleone in the occasion of the Time in Turkey project which aim is to show Turkey from a Global Perspective. The Zaman daily newspaper has crowned its 25-year journey with a project that is the most comprehensive work of photography ever launched in Turkey. Within the project, titled Türkiye’de Zaman / Time in Turkey, the newspaper invited 25 world renowned photographers to tell stories in photos that reflect life and issues unique to Turkey from their particular points of view. These masters of photography came together for the big “photo of Turkey” for Zaman.

The collective exhibition presented around Turkey and later in London is now going to Wien Kunsthalle and will inaugurate on August 31 (is open until September 21 2012).

The participating photographers are: Jane Evelyn Atwood, Bruno Barbey, Samuel Bollendorff, Eric Bouvet, Steve McCurry, Claudine Doury, Carolyn Drake, Nikos Economopoulos, Michel Vanden Eeckhoudt, Rena Effendi, George Georgiou, Harry Gruyaert, Guillaume Herbaut, Ed Kashi, Kathryn Koch, Massimo Mastrorillo, Davide Monteleone, Christopher Morris, Paolo Pellegrin, Reza, Anthony Suau, Gaël Turini, Vanessa Winship, Ami Vitale.
